The SRT-100 machine is a state-of-the-art medical device that is used to treat skin cancer and other skin conditions. It is a type of superficial radiotherapy machine that uses low energy radiation to destroy cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
Here’s how the SRT-100 machine works:
- The patient will lie down on a treatment table, and the area to be treated will be marked with a special ink.
- A lead shield is placed over any healthy tissue surrounding the treatment area, in order to protect it from radiation.
- The SRT-100 machine emits a beam of low-energy radiation that penetrates only the top layers of the skin, targeting the cancer cells and damaging their DNA.
- The machine delivers a carefully calibrated dose of radiation to the treatment area, ensuring that cancer cells are destroyed while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
- The entire treatment session typically lasts between 15 and 30 minutes, and patients can usually return to their normal activities immediately afterward.
- Patients may require multiple treatment sessions, depending on the size and location of the cancer.
